So, how did HMS Innuendo by Naughtickle begin? It all started when I was asked by a punk band (The Vibrators) to print some black pants for them—but instead, I accidentally bought a large batch of white girls’ pants. Unable to return them, I decided to print the word “Smack” across the back.

 

For those not into sailing, a smack is a classic working boat, and you’ll find plenty of them along the East Coast. With a history spanning over 200 years, with the oldest working fishing boat in the world—still licensed to fish—can be found on Mersea. They’re truly beautiful boats. As it turned out, I sold every single pair of those printed pants in just one day. And that’s how it all began.
